Caldwell Target Turner
The Caldwell Target Turner Stand is a unique stand designed to present and hide targets for an interactive shooting and training experience. The turner rotates the top target at 90 degrees left and right and features adjustable speeds between a 1 and 6 second delay. The Turner Stand accepts all IDPA, IPSC, and NRA Action Pistol Cardboard targets. The low center-of-gravity and stake holes allow turner to operate even in high wind conditions. The Target Turner Stand can be setup in less than 60 seconds, and the 3-legged stand is collapsible which provides a quick and easy setup/clean-up experience.
In dynamic IPSC/action shooting time plays a decisive role. Anyone who wants to develop in this area must leave his comfort zone to test his shooting skills under individually varying "high speed" conditions. Here, the timing device (timer) and moving target media are the appropriate means of choice. Targets that can only be fired at within a certain time window significantly increase the pressure in training and competition. Experience has shown that IPSC shooters often hit the moving target perfectly due to maximum focus, while neglecting static targets in the immediate vicinity in the series of shots to such an extent that misses or marginal hits (C/D) can occur.
This is the Caldwell Target Turner for the IPSC shooter
The Caldwell Target Turner is delivered in such a way that only the three legs need to be mounted. When folded up, the device is 640 millimetres long and weighs 3,800 grams and is powered by eight AA batteries. In our test the batteries lasted for several hours, but this also depends on the speed of rotation. The axis of rotation is about 350 millimetres above the rather stable housing. The steel rods, which also have a diameter of around 8 millimetres, are inserted into it to hold the disc. These then have a span of around 405 millimetres, so that an IPSC disc, for example, can easily be inserted into them.
The rotation speed of 1 to 6 seconds can be infinitely adjusted on the rotary wheel. The times in which the target is visible are always the same as the time the target turns away from the shooter. This means that if it is visible for 1.5 seconds, it will reappear after 1.5 seconds.
However, a colour-coded knurl on the knob and a small scale made of cardboard cut to size can help you to find the time settings more accurately.
The speed at which the disc turns depends on the time interval. For example, if a large time interval is set, the rotation will be correspondingly slow. This means that slotted holes in the disc may be found more often.
